A heat pump boiler works much more efficiently and saves more energy than a traditional heating system based on fossil fuels. With Altherma, 1kW of electricity consumption generates 3 kW to 5 kW of free heat. As a result, the CO2 emissions generated for your heating can be reduced by up to 57%*, compared to a traditional combustion based fuel boiler or by 28% compared to a condensing gas boiler.
Altherma can be used to provide hot water to showers (via storage tank), air-handling units, fan coils, under floor heating and radiators.
*The Daikin Altherma Packaged all-in-one-air-to-water heat pump system comes in just one unit size and 3 heating capacities. The fully weatherproofed unit comprises all the components, Inverter compressor, evaporator, heat exchanger, 3 speed pump, expansion vessel, gauge, valves, flow switch and filter strainer. The Inverter controlled packaged system is highly efficient, providing water up to 55°C; paired with a water storage tank the water temperature can be boosted to supply hot water to 65°C+ via the tank auxiliary heater.
*The Daikin Altherma air-to-water air source heat pump system comprises two components, an outdoor heat absorbing unit (heat pump) and an indoor heat exchanger hydro-box unit, connected by refrigerant pipe work.
How does it work?
The Altherma heat pump system extracts low grade thermal energy (at ambient temperature) from the environment (heat freely available in outside air), upgrades the heat to a higher temperature and releases it into the water running through your central heating system with low temperature radiators, under floor heating system or fan coil units.
Subcooled supply, install and maintain heat recovery ventilation systems which are designed to modulate the temperature and humidity of incoming fresh air to match indoor conditions. A balance is thus achieved between indoor and outdoor ambient.
The units provide for cost effective energy efficient fresh air ventilation meeting legal and comfort requirements for offices, public spaces and other commercial applications. Heat recovery units can be controlled individually or integral with an air conditioning system.
When used in conjunction with an air conditioning system, the heat recovery unit enables the cooling or heating mode placed on the air conditioning system to be reduced significantly while maintaining the required fresh air ventilation rates. The system takes out dirty indoor air and pushes in fresh outdoor air to the rooms of your building, exchanging heat and humidity between supply and exhaust air which brings outdoor air close to indoor conditions and thus recovers energy loss.
